Rep. Kelechi Nwogu Counters Sports betting ban Reports in Nigeria

However, in a tweet from X, Nwogu, a member of the House of Representatives representing the Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency, explained that the media had misunderstood the motion as a call for a complete ban on sports betting nationwide.

Nwogu clarified that the resolution actually encourages the NLRC to enhance its adherence to the Lottery Regulatory Commission Act 2005 and promote a secure environment for players and stakeholders.

“Contrary to Instablog and other media reports, the motion does not aim to ban sport betting. Its purpose is to protect players’ rights and ensure compliance with existing regulation,.” read the post. “I am committed to fostering responsible gambling and creating a fair and transparent industry. Let’s rely on accurate information and work together for the betterment of Nigeria.” he continued.
