Sweden Bans CGG Entertainment from Providing Games to Swedish Players

The Swedish Gambling Authority, known as Spelinspektionen, has swiftly taken action by issuing an outright ban on CGG Entertainment Ltd. The company is now prohibited from offering its games within Sweden’s jurisdiction, following an in-depth investigation into their website, cases.gg. The inquiry revealed that the platform was actively targeting Swedish players despite lacking the necessary license. Sweden Bans CGG
The investigation into cases.gg began after concerns emerged that the website was operating unlawfully in the Swedish market. Spelinspektionen’s supervisory team found that the site hosted various lotteries where the prizes included consumer goods such as cars, shoes, and jewelry. The platform also offered several game formats, including “mystery boxes” that players could purchase. These boxes contained random items, and if the outcome was unfavorable, players would lose their stake.
During their review, regulators noted the presence of Swedish-language content on the site when accessed from a Swedish IP address, along with the display of the Swedish flag. The website had also been promoted on a Swedish-language review page, further indicating its targeting of local users. In a covert test purchase attempt, Spelinspektionen tried to make a transaction but was unable to complete it. The investigation also confirmed that Swedish users could register and open accounts without restriction.

In response, CGG Entertainment Ltd stated that it plans to adhere to Swedish laws. The company claimed to have taken steps to block all Swedish users and payment card transactions from the country. However, a follow-up inspection on October 6, 2025, uncovered that the website still contained Swedish-language content and instructions on how to bypass the blocks using a VPN, raising questions about the effectiveness of their measures.
