New Botswana Gambling Equipment Standards Now Available for Purchase

The Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) has officially announced the availability of newly published Gambling Equipment Standards, which were gazetted on April 12, 2024. These standards are now available for purchase, marking a significant step forward in the regulation and oversight of the gambling industry in Botswana.

The newly released standards cover various aspects of gambling equipment, including casino equipment, monitoring and control systems, jackpot equipment, limited payout machines, and record-keeping software. This initiative aligns with the Gambling Authority’s ongoing efforts to ensure that gambling activities in Botswana are conducted in a fair, transparent, and regulated manner.

Stakeholders in the gambling industry, including casino operators, gaming equipment manufacturers, and software developers, are encouraged to purchase these standards to ensure compliance with the latest regulatory requirements. The standards are available for purchase from the Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) and include:

  • BOS 202 – 1:2022: Gambling Equipment – Part 1: Casino Equipment
  • BOS 202 – 2:2022: Gambling Equipment – Part 2: Monitoring and Control Systems for Gaming Equipment
  • BOS 202 – 4:2010: Gambling Equipment – Part 4: Local Area and Wide Area Jackpot and Progressive Jackpot Equipment
  • BOS 202-5:2023: Gambling Equipment – Part 5: Limited Payout Machines
  • BOS 202-6:2023: Gambling Equipment – Part 6: Central Electronic Monitoring Systems for Limited Payout Machines
  • BOS 202-7:2023: Gambling Equipment – Part 7: Wagering Record-Keeping Software
