MGA Revokes Winzon Group License and Issues Over €190,000 in Fines and Fees

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has officially revoked the operating licence of Winzon Group Limited following an investigation into multiple compliance breaches and operational deficiencies. The regulator highlighted failures to adhere to established standards as the primary reason for the licence cancellation.
Effective from 11 March 2026, the MGA rescinded the authorisation of Winzon Group Limited, identified by reference number MGA/B2C/717/2019. The authority announced this decision on 7 April, citing its authority under regulation 10(2)(b) of the Gaming Compliance and Enforcement Regulations. In addition to the licence cancellation, the MGA mandated the company to inform its players of the termination, facilitate the return of player funds, provide detailed transaction records and bank statements, remove all references to its MGA licence from its branding, and settle any outstanding fees. The regulator also imposed administrative penalties amounting to €147,080 and emphasized that the company remains responsible for obligations under the Gaming Act and associated regulations.
The MGA described this action as a formal cancellation of Winzon Group Limited’s authorisation. While the decision took effect on 11 March 2026, the official notice was published several weeks later, on 7 April. This measure was enacted under the provisions of regulation 10(2)(b) of the Gaming Compliance and Enforcement Regulations, a key legal framework governing compliance in Malta’s gaming sector. The company is registered under the corporate reference C-89900.
The MGA directed Winzon to inform all affected players via email and through its online platforms within 30 days of the licence cancellation. The company is also required to refund all legitimate player funds in accordance with the Gaming Act, Chapter 583 of the Laws of Malta, and related regulatory instruments. Post-licence termination, Winzon must handle personal data in accordance with its privacy policy and relevant data protection laws. Furthermore, the company is obliged to inform players about how their data will be processed following the licence’s revocation.

Financial liabilities constitute a significant component of the MGA’s decision. Winzon is required to settle outstanding fees totaling €46,693.23, which include the annual licence fee and minimum compliance contributions under the Gaming Licence Fees Regulations. Additionally, the MGA imposed fines totaling €147,080, citing the company’s “numerous shortcomings” and breaches of the Gaming Act and related regulations.
