Marocaine Des Jeux et Des Sports and Intralot extends lottery contract

Intralot has announced the extension of its agreement with La Marocaine Des Jeux et Des Sports (MDJS). This is the government-run lottery that provides sports betting and other gambling activities in Morocco.

The Intralot Group’s subsidiary, Intralot Maroc, has been granted an extension to continue operating MDJS’ lottery games, namely Tifo and Chrono, for two more years. The contract is scheduled to end on 31 December 2025.

The lottery games will be disseminated via a network of sales outlets, using current technological infrastructure and conforming to global norms.

Intralot’s financial report for the year-to-date results up until September 2023 reveals a recent development. The report shows that the revenue for the nine-month period was €280m ($305.6m), indicating a decline of 7.2% compared to the previous year.

On the other hand, the revenue in the third quarter experienced a significant growth of 8.1% to reach €104.8 million. The gross gaming revenue (GGR) also saw a 2.2% rise, reaching €262.2 million. Lottery games accounted for a substantial portion, comprising 56.8% of the year-to-date revenue, which amounted to €159 million.

Intralot has made strategic decisions that involve prolonging its agreement with OPAP. A Greek gaming operator, until 2026. As part of this extension, OPAP will be granted the rights to use Intralot’s lottery engine software, known as LotosX, and its related features. Additionally, there is the possibility of two additional one-year extensions in the future.

Moreover, Intralot has broadened its reach in the United States. This is by prolonging its collaboration with the Wyoming Lottery Corporation until 2034. It offers lottery operating systems and services to assist in the smooth functioning of the Wyoming Lottery. Intralot has held a position in the gaming industry in Morocco since 2010.
