The settlement, announced this morning, relates to Grosvenor\u2019s 51 casinos across Great Britain.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Commission identifies control failures<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Commission said customers were able to gamble significant sums without appropriate source-of-funds checks or responsible gambling interactions. It found that Rank had not updated its<strong> anti-money laundering policies <\/strong>to reflect changes to the Money Laundering Regulations in 2020. The regulator also said the company\u2019s procedures allowed inconsistent decisions about customers considered to pose an elevated money-laundering risk. In addition, Rank did not carry out enhanced customer due diligence when its own policies required it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Examples of missed safer-gambling interaction<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>The Commission highlighted several cases, including a customer who lost<strong> \u00a350,000<\/strong> without a safer-gambling interaction. Another customer won approximately<strong> \u00a3260,000 in a short period, then lost around \u00a3250,000 in 12 days,<\/strong> with no record of any such interaction. A third customer, returning from self-exclusion, did not receive a safer-gambling interaction until they had lost \u00a325,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Read Also:<a href=\"https:\/\/igamingeuropa.com\/index.php\/2026\/10\/07\/allwyn-appoints-fredrik-ogren-as-group-cto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Allwyn Appoints Fredrik \u00d6gren as Group CTO.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cLarger enforcement cases are often associated with online gambling but, as today\u2019s announcement shows, the risks of anti-money laundering and social responsibility failures are equally alive in the land-based sector,\u201d<\/em> said Sue Young, Gambling Commission executive director of operations.<em> \u201cWe would advise all premises-based operators to take a careful look at this case and ensure their own business is not making the same mistakes, and therefore they do not face costly and inevitable Commission action.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Settlement and next steps<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The full \u00a35 million will go to the UK Government\u2019s Consolidated Fund. Grosvenor Casinos has also agreed to undergo an independent external audit. The Commission said Rank cooperated with the investigation and acted swiftly to address the failings.
