Earlier this year, in a competitive bidding process, IGT faced off against prominent companies such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.novomatic.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Novomatic<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allwyn.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Allwyn<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/flutter.dev\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Flutter<\/a> for a new contract, as the current agreement is set to expire in November 2025. <\/strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-white-color\">IGT Italian Lottery Contract<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On May 20, 2025, IGT announced that its consortium, LottoItalia\u2014which includes Allwyn, Arianna 2001, and Novomatic Italia\u2014had won the bid. The new contract will extend IGT\u2019s control of the Italian lottery until November 2034.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The LottoItalia consortium proposed an upfront payment of \u20ac2.23 billion, to be paid in three installments scheduled between the signing of the contract and April 2026. The first installment of \u20ac500 million and the second of \u20ac300 million are planned for 2025, reflecting the significant financial commitment involved in securing this long-term concession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following this announcement, IGT expressed its plans for increased investment and digital growth. Barry Jonas, a representative from Truist Securities, noted in a research note that the new initial rate easily surpasses the \u20ac770 million value from the 2016 round and exceeds Truist\u2019s own forecasts, which ranged between \u20ac1.3 and \u20ac1.5 billion. During an earnings call, IGT CEO Vince Sadusky revealed that the company has allocated $500 million for investment in the Italian lottery as part of a broader \u20ac1 billion financing plan. Sadusky emphasized the strategic importance of the deal, stating, \u201cIn addition, we plan to significantly increase our iLottery sales and use this momentum to expand into Italian B2C iCasino, sports betting, and other digital gaming businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Allwyn, which contributed 32.5% of the license fee and equity investment, expressed enthusiasm about continuing its partnership. Marco Sala, Executive Chairman of IGT\u2019s Board, underscored the significance of the agreement, stating, \u201cIGT and its predecessor companies have successfully managed the license for more than 30 years through constant innovation and the introduction of cutting-edge technology.\u201d He expressed his pride and excitement, saying, \u201cThe award is very gratifying and we are honoured and excited to continue working with ADM [the Customs and Monopolies Agency] for another nine years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Truist\u2019s Barry Jonas also noted that IGT\u2019s victory aligned well with the regulator\u2019s scoring system, which assigns 60% weight to financial aspects and 40% to technical capabilities. He explained, \u201cBased on this scoring system, IGT emerged victorious, although an official announcement is yet to be made.\u201d Additionally, Jonas commented on Flutter\u2019s position, stating, \u201cOur opinion on Flutter taking control of Lotto at any cost was mixed.
