{"id":13968,"date":"2024-04-15T10:47:17","date_gmt":"2024-04-15T07:47:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/igamingafrika.com\/?p=13968"},"modified":"2024-04-15T10:47:17","modified_gmt":"2024-04-15T07:47:17","slug":"new-york-mobile-sports-betting-handle-reaches-19-6bn-for-the-2023-24-fiscal-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/igamingeuropa.com\/index.php\/2024\/04\/15\/new-york-mobile-sports-betting-handle-reaches-19-6bn-for-the-2023-24-fiscal-year\/","title":{"rendered":"New York Mobile Sports Betting handle Reaches $19.6bn for the 2023\/24 Fiscal Year!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>New York has released its final set of results for mobile sports betting in the 2023\/24 fiscal year.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last month, the state surpassed its total handle for the 2022\/23 fiscal year prior to March\u2019s results being released, with these latest figures helping to further push a record second full fiscal year of legal mobile sports betting.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In total for the 2023\/24 fiscal year, handle wasn\u2019t far off reaching the <em>$20bn<\/em> mark, hitting <em>$19.6bn<\/em>, while gross gaming revenue (GGR) was set at $1.76bn.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Read Also: <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingafrika.com\/hacksaw-gaming-goes-live-in-bulgaria-with-alphawin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hacksaw Gaming Goes live in Bulgaria with Alphawin!<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking at March\u2019s numbers specifically, mobile sports wagering handle increased slightly from the same period last year from $1.79bn to $1.85bn. This figure was also only a 4.3% month-on-month rise but was still the fifth-largest handle the state has recorded in a single month, since the first month of operation of legal mobile sports betting in January 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">March Madness of course started in mid-March, which helped handle increase from February.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In terms of GGR, for March it was set at <em>$151.7m<\/em>, growth when compared with February when it was valued at<em> $131.4m<\/em>, but a fall compared with last year. Year-on-year, GGR decreased 6.8%, with last year\u2019s March GGR the fifth-highest New York has achieved.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During March, looking at some of the operators in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_York_City\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New York<\/a>, FanDuel slightly improved on its dip in numbers during February, increasing its GGR month-on-month by just under<em> $10m<\/em>. When compared with February, BetMGM upped its GGR by a massive<em> 1243.4%<\/em>. For DraftKings, despite a rise in its handle, GGR actually went down from<em> $53.4m<\/em> in February to <em>$48.8m<\/em> in March.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PointsBet changed to Fanatics\u00a0at the end of February and its opening month saw handle drop <em>35.8%<\/em> in March from February\u2019s number, though GGR did increase to
