SportPesa Strengthens Support for Shujaa as They Gear Up for World Rugby Sevens Series

Kenya’s national rugby sevens team, Shujaa, is set to receive a substantial boost ahead of their exciting return to the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series next month, thanks to renewed backing from SportPesa.

The sports betting company has revamped its sponsorship agreement with the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU), pledging a total of Sh84.15 million to support Shujaa’s upcoming campaign.

The new sponsorship deal spans the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 seasons, with allocations of Sh33 million for the upcoming season and Sh49 million for the following year.

In recognition of their efforts, an additional Sh1.65 million will be designated as prize money for the SportPesa National Sevens Circuit in 2025.

During the announcement of the sponsorship extension, SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri underscored the company’s unwavering commitment to promoting sports excellence in Kenya.

The partnership symbolizes a strong commitment to not only improving the rugby landscape in Kenya but also fostering a culture of sports in the region.
