Gambling Addiction in Nigeria Raises Concerns Among Gaming Stakeholders

The gaming stakeholders, brought together in Lagos by the Association of Nigerian Bookmakers (ANB) and Gamble Alert, expressed their strong commitment to promoting safer and more responsible gaming in Nigeria.

They acknowledged the growing concerns about the negative impacts of gambling and agreed that it is now more important than ever to address these issues.

During the convergence, gaming operators engaged in discussions and devised strategies aimed at preventing and addressing issues related to gambling addiction.

Mrs. Olabimpe Akingba, the Executive Secretary of ANB, affirmed the organization’s dedication to responsible gaming as the national trade group for gaming.

According to him, this comprises of substantial initiatives to raise public awareness about responsible gaming and offering assistance to individuals dealing with gambling-related problems like addiction.

He highlighted the significance of comprehending the underlying reasons behind gambling addiction in order to customize efficient preventive measures and treatment programs.

In addition, he emphasized Gamble Alert’s dedication to evidence-based intervention through groundbreaking research.

The individuals involved in the event made a commitment to offer treatment to those experiencing gambling problems. They also agreed to promote Gamble Alert’s helpline on different platforms and work together on raising awareness through collaborative campaigns.
